Tributes

A tribute gift is a thoughtful way to celebrate a special person or occasion.  This gift can be made in honor, memory, or celebration of someone important to you. It is also a meaningful way to commemorate a special event or milestone such as a birthday or graduation. Through a tribute gift, you can celebrate those who mean the most to you while providing the life changing experience of summer camp.

No doubt, Mom would be overjoyed knowing her legacy helped youngsters enjoy the opportunity to attend Camp Green Cove and Mondamin.

Tribute Highlights

Suzanne Vanderhider O'Neal Zadrowski

In Memory. 1953-2021

Our Mom, Suzanne Vanderhider O’Neal Zadrowski, spent childhood summers at Green Cove during the 1960s. This is where she fell in love with the hunter-jumper world, which shaped her entire life. She sang the praises of camp to anyone who would listen and was constantly recruiting campers and counselors. In the 1990’s Mom returned to Mondamin to help with the riding program so that we could attend camp and be molded by the phenomenal experiences afforded in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. No doubt, Mom would be overjoyed knowing her legacy helped youngsters enjoy the opportunity to attend Camp Green Cove and Mondamin.

Simon Everett

In Memory 1983-2014

Simon Everett was a fun loving, outgoing young man who took time away from his career each summer to be on staff at June Camp and always donated his salary to help provide scholarships. Simon was an active board member of C+CBSF and epitomized the concept of helping others and taking time to have fun, especially with kids.

Benjamin George Massony

In Memory 2014-2016

Benjamin Massony, the son of Richard Massony and Stefanie Vuori Massony, would have been a Mondamin camper. Richard is a former Mondamin camper and he and Stefanie met when they were both on staff at Mondamin. His family requested that donations be made to facilitate scholarships through C+CBSF so that future boys have the ability to create wonderful memories at camp.

Courtland Smith

In Memory 1988 to 2009

Courtland Smith was a Mondamin camper and counselor from 1998 through 2009. From the time he arrived at Mondamin as a ten-year-old on Junior Line, Courtland was an avid camper, and he immediately fell in love with the mountains and rivers of western North Carolina. For a dozen years, he wouldn’t have dreamed of spending his summers anywhere else. He eventually became a paddling counselor, honing his skills not only as a kayaker but also as an instructor and mentor of younger kids. His family is deeply grateful for all the donations that have been given in his memory, making it possible for other young people to discover the richness of the outdoors and form enduring friendships through the unique experience of summer camp.
